Tap Space (or any key) fast Hit Space (or any key) for 5 seconds. The tool counts every physical tap and divides by the time.

How it works: every keydown while the timer runs counts as one tap. Auto-repeat (holding a key) is ignored, so only real taps count.

This measures raw tapping speed on your hardware and browser. Latency between key and screen can shave a fraction off the count.

What the CPS test tells you

What it measures

Tap a key for 5 seconds and the tool divides your taps by the time. It ignores auto-repeat, so only real presses count, and it keeps your last few runs for comparison.

What it reveals

Your honest tapping speed. Most people land between 5 and 8 CPS; above 10 takes technique. A keyboard that clips your fastest taps points back to a low polling rate.

Who should test

Gamers tracking their tapping speed over time, or anyone comparing techniques like jitter clicking. It also settles a friendly argument about who taps faster.

How to run a CPS test

  1. Start the 5-second timerClick "Start 5s test" and place one finger on Space.
  2. Tap as fast as you canEvery press counts, auto-repeat does not. Steady fast tapping beats a short burst.
  3. Read your CPSCPS is taps divided by 5 seconds. Past runs are kept below the timer so you can compare.

CPS FAQ

Taps per second: what a good score is, and what limits your tapping speed.

Is this the same as a mouse CPS test?

Same idea, different input. This counts keyboard presses; mouse tests count button clicks. Keyboard tapping can reach higher rates because the key returns on its own.

Why does my CPS vary between runs?

Fatigue, focus and background load all shift the number. Run it a few times and take the best consistent result, not the lucky spike.

Can I use this to cheat in games?

No, and don't. Game servers detect macro-style input, and bans follow. This tool exists to measure your real tapping speed, not to fake it.

Does my keyboard limit my CPS?

Only in a small way. A 125 Hz keyboard reports up to 8 ms apart, which can clip extremely fast bursts. At normal speeds the limit is your fingers, not the board.
